![]() This 1910 lovely grand house on Mississippi River Boulevard had much to offer and much to correct. The owners' vision was to have a house that was worthy and respectful of the site. In addition, the house had to be family-friendly while providing areas for them to pursue their interest in music, books and intertaining. The original character and details of the house were matched inside and out, and where possible, the contractor used elements such as the entry door, its hardware and timber brackets at new locations. At other times, new trim and roof lookouts had to be custom-fabricated from sawmills in the west to access lumber in the size necessary. To make the house accessible to guests, an elevator was incorported into the design.
Areas added to the house included an upper level ballroom and library.
A four-season porch was added off the dining room.
This view looks away from the library toward the wet bar and elevator. The area serves as a vestibule to the ballroom.
Two upper level sleeping porches were added off existing bedrooms.
